OVERVIEW

By the early 1900s, Laurel was an established rural community, with schools, a Grange hall and a co-op creamery.

Agriculture remains important to the area, but Laurel is becoming increasingly suburban. Numerous businesses and shops have sprung up near the busy intersection of Guide Meridian and Laurel Road, serving local residents as well as the thousands of people who travel the Guide.

With more change on the horizon, from a wider Guide Meridian to more residential growth, Meridian schools will continue to provide common ground for Laurel families.

QUOTE

“For Laurel, Meridian schools bind a lot of things together, since we don’t have a town center but we do have a school district. People turn out for events that are important to the community and school.”
Karolyn Crabtree, Laurel resident for 15 years
