Clevenger takes second at Wisconsin triathlon

Bellingham's Austin Clevenger, racing for Oh Boy Oberto/Redline, won the silver medal in the USAT Youth National Championship triathlon event on Aug. 4 in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
Clevenger took second with a time of 27 minutes, 48 seconds, three seconds behind the winner in the event for 11- and 12-year-olds.
VLASIC COMPETES IN NEW MEXICO MEET
Jessica Vlasic, 16, of the Bellingham Bay Swim Team, took second in the championship final of the 15-16 girls' 200 backstroke at the 2007 Western Zone Championships held Aug. 7-11 in Farmington, N.M.
Vlasic also finished 11th in the 100 backstroke, 12th in the 400 freestyle, 19th in the 100 freestyle and 27th in the 50 freestyle.
The Pacific Northwest Swimming team, a group of all-star swimmers from the western United States which Vlasic represented, took fifth place in the event.
RUGBY TOURNAMENT WRAPS UP IN FERNDALE
The Chicago Lions defeated the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club, from San Diego, 35-21, in the USA Rugby Men's Club 7s Championships title match Sunday at the Bellingham Polo and Rugby Grounds in Ferndale.
Denver beat San Francisco, 33-0, to take home third place.
The Northern Virginia Athletic Club beat New York Athletic Club, 27-19, in the fifth-place match, and Milwaukee defeated Woodlands Elite, 17-0, for the seventh-place trophy.
MERIDIAN GATORS FINISH STRONG
The Meridian Gators (49-9) finished up a strong season with a 4-3 loss to South Sound, out of Olympia, at the 14-year-old Pony Baseball regional.
The Gators won six of the seven tournaments they participated in this summer.
POWER HOUSE WRAPS UP SEASON
The Power House U-16 fastpitch team from Bellingham finished the year with two championships, a second-place finish and a consolation title in its final four tournaments of the season.
