Wells Fargo names senior Business Banking relationship manager

Graham Youtsey has been named senior Business Banking relationship manager at Wells Fargo.

Youtsey, a 15-year financial services veteran, will be based at Bellingham, 1310 10th St. and will serve customers in Whatcom, Skagit, Island and San Juan counties. He most recently worked as a mortgage banker for Homestead Mortgage. Previously, Youtsey worked as a business banker for Washington Mutual.

Youtsey earned a bachelor's degree from Western Washington University.

HULBERT HONORED

John Hulbert, a Bellingham financial advisor at Citi Smith Barney, received The President's Volunteer Service Silver Award for contributing more than 250 hours of his time to local charities.

Each year, this award recognizes volunteers who have contributed more than 100 hours to one or more non-profit organizations in a year. More than 1,000 Citi employees throughout the United States are recognized with this honor.

Hulbert's local service contributions have included serving as a Junior Achievement board member and volunteer, the president of the Silver Beach Education Association, a Bellingham Bay Rotary member, and several other non-profit organizations.

Having joined Smith Barney six years ago, Hulbert was promoted to second vice president, wealth management.

JERNS HIRES APPRENTICES

Jerns Funeral Chapel and Crematorium in Bellingham has added a pair of apprentice funeral directors with long family ties to the funeral home.

Greg Peterson and his daughter, Tiffany Arnett, recently entered the apprenticeship program. They will be assisting families in making arrangements for services, burials and cremations at Jerns Funeral Chapel and Jerns-McKinney Funeral Chapel in Blaine. Peterson and Arnett also will be present at services to ensure that family wishes are followed.

They are the son and granddaughter, respectively, of Quentin 'Pete' Peterson, who worked at Jerns Funeral Chapel for more than 30 years. Greg Peterson himself has worked part-time at Jerns Funeral Chapel for nearly 20 years and Arnett has done so the last two years before both decided to become funeral directors.

Jerns Funeral Chapel, located at 800 E. Sunset Drive, was founded in 1887. The Bellingham and Blaine funeral homes became family owned and operated again in 2007 with their acquisition by Brad Bytnar. Jerns Funeral Chapel offers a small and a large chapel for services, as well as a wide range of caskets, urns and other items related to funerals and burials.

REALTORS PRESENT AWARDS

The Whatcom County Association of Realtors presented its second-quarter awards to Ben Kinney of Keller Williams Realty and Jennifer Evans Thompson of North Coast Credit Union.

Kinney was named WCAR's Realtor of the Second Quarter. After starting in real estate full-time in 2004, Kinney now leads a team of 10 agents and three administrators at the Bellingham office of Keller Williams. As a result of his success and innovative use of technology, he was featured in June as one of the "30 under 30" agents after a nationwide selection process by Realtor magazine. Kinney also serves on the WCAR's board of directors and teaches technology courses for its members.

The WCAR also selected Thompson as its Affiliate of the Second Quarter. A Bellingham native, Thompson is the loan manager for North Coast Credit Union and has 11 years of credit union experience. She has served on the WCAR Habitat for Humanity and finance committees and now is chairing the committee responsible for the installation banquet for 2009 officers.

WCAR is a nonprofit organization celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. With a membership of more than 800 Realtors, 50 brokers and 60 affiliates, WCAR provides continuing-education classes for members and information for prospective buyers and sellers of real estate. PATE WILL ADVISE IRS

Bill Pate, an accountant and owner of Bookkeeping Solutions NW in Lynden, recently was selected by the National Association of Tax Professionals for a group advising the Internal Revenue Service on electronic filing of tax returns.

Pate was one of 50 attendees at the annual conference of the National Association of Tax Professionals, held July 7-10 in Atlanta, who were chosen to give feedback to the IRS to help it improve the electronic filing process. Pate has more than 20 years of experience in accounting and taxes.

The NATP is a nonprofit professional association serving professionals in all areas of tax practice. It includes more than 18,000 members, including accountants, attorneys, enrolled agents and financial planners. Pate is currently working to launch an NATP chapter in Washington. THERAPIST GETS CERTIFICATION

Juliana Bohn at Core Therapeutics PT in Fairhaven has passed her level 3 certification exam through the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy earning the title of Certified Manual Physical Therapist.

This three-year process requires extensive continuing education, submission of three case studies and passing written and practical exams.

Bohn has more than 25-years experience as a physical therapist and educator.

She also has a special clinical interest in upper cervical dysfunction due to whiplash.
