A new coffee place opening in Birch Bay also will have a wine bar.
Homestead Northwest plans to open CJ Wijns (pronounced wines) at 6 a.m. daily starting Wednesday, July 23, at the Grand Bay Condominiums at 7714 Birch Bay Drive.
Along with Tully's coffee in the morning, the place will feature four types of chowder daily, along with pastries, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and salads. CJ Wijns also will prepare picnic basket lunches for those who want to have a meal on the nearby private beach.
The wine part of the business, featuring more than 100 varieties, is scheduled to be open in early August, pending approval of a state liquor license.
The business name comes from the Wynstra family, owners of Homestead Northwest, according to a company press release. CJ is short for Carolyn and Jim Wynstra, also seen on CJ's Beach House in Birch Bay, CJ's Barnyard Bistro in Lynden and CJ's Oasis near Chelan. The Wijns name comes from the proper Dutch spelling of Wynstra and means "wine" in English.
The facility has seating for about 60 indoors and an outdoor patio space that seats 30.
