The Bellingham office of David Evans and Associates won a State Gold Award for social, economic and sustainable design considerations.
The firm received the award for its work on Lincoln Creek next to Western Washington University’s Lincoln Creek Transportation Center. It was presented at the American Council of Engineering Companies/ Washington’s 40th annual awards ceremony. The creek restoration project was undertaken in 2007 to mitigate impacts from the building of the transportation center.
David Evans and Associates worked closely with WWU to design a project that would provide the necessary stream and wetland mitigation, incorporate student participation, and exemplify elements of sustainable design.
