The city of Bellingham and several local economic agencies are sponsoring free workshops to help businesses survive the difficult economy.

The first of six free monthly sessions will be from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. March 19 at Mount Baker Theatre’s Walton Room.

The first session, called a Business Wellness Check, will focus on tracking the health of your business, identifying early warning signs so you can make course corrections, and learning things your banker wish you knew. The session also will give business people an opportunity to schedule free, confidential business-wellness audits, and provide access to other resources.

Presenters at the March 19 session will include George Bowen of People’s Bank and Tom Dorr, director at the Center for Economic Vitality.

Other sessions are planned for the third Thursday of each month through August. People at the March 19 session will help set future topics.

The series is sponsored by the city of Bellingham, Sustainable Connections, Center for Economic Vitality (formerly SBDC), the Technology Alliance Group for Northwest Washington, Belling-ham/Whatcom Economic Development Council, and Downtown Bellingham Partnership. For a reservation, contact Tara Sundin, 778-8300 or tsundin@cob.org.
