ATTORNEY SPEAKS ON IMMIGRATION LAWS
Delivering his paper "The Dillingham Inadmissibility Exception" to the 2008 Northwest Regional Immigration Law Conference, attorney W. Scott Railton offered possible solutions for individuals and businesses adversely affected by new immigration laws.
The two-day conference in Seattle was attended by immigration experts from around the country, as well as senior officials from the Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Railton's paper examined a post-9/11 ruling on immigration law by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in which a non-citizen previously denied entry into the U.S. was later granted admission. The ruling is significant, Railton explained to conference attendees, especially for businesses who may rely on the special expertise of guest workers.
Railton is an attorney in the Bellingham office of Chang & Boos, an immigration law firm with offices in Bellingham and Toronto.
