The Gallery Walk in Bellingham is getting a new name and format.

It will now be known as the Downtown Art Walk and will be a monthly event, according to a press release from the Downtown Renaissance Network.

The group hopes to include more art forms at the event, such as performance, music, design and culinary arts. The first monthly art walk will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 5 and continue the first Friday of each month. The one exception is the Oct. 10 event.

For businesses interested in participating, the cost is $65 for nonmembers for a single event and $45 for members of the Downtown Renaissance Network. The annual member rate is $420. New businesses and non-profits will have a rate of $50. Scholarships are available for independent artists.

For more information, call Kirsten Walker at 527-8710.

Secure shredding services offered

Sound Shredding & Recycling has partnered with Print & Copy Factory to offer a drop-off shredding service for small business and community members.

The service will be available starting Aug. 1 at Print & Copy Factory’s office at 4055 Irongate Road in Bellingham. Sound’s facility is not a drop-off location, so the arrangement with Print & Copy allows Sound to safely offer drop-off shredding service to the community.

For a fee, community members can bring their confidential paper material to Print & Copy Factory, where it will be locked in secure containers in a monitored, alarm-protected area. Sound will then pick up the materials and transport them to their facility for secure shredding and recycling.

For more information, contact Sound Shredding & Recycling at 733-7932 or Print & Copy Factory at 738-4931.
