2nd Lt. Colby Spencer Kornelis Colby Spencer Kornelis was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army on August 6, 2008. He is a 1999 graduate of Nooksack HS and graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Illinois State University in July 2008, earning his BS degree in Politics and Government in just 3 years. 2nd Lieutenant Kornelis is the son of Chris and Phil Kornelis of Everson WA. He and wife Megan, daughter of Harold and Karen Van Alsburg, also of Everson, will be stationed in Fort Hood Texas.
