Several local and regional architects were winners at the 2008 NWAIA Architectural Design Awards, held earlier this month.

The award program is put together by the Northwest American Institute of Architects.

John Michael Stewart of Stewart + King Architects won a Merit award for the design of Park Place Residences in Bellingham. The project team was Tim Faber and Stu Geldholf. The contractors were Peterson Construction of Bellingham and Moncrieff Construction of Lynden. A Merit award is considered an outstanding example worthy of study on a regional basis, according to the NWAIA.

Fred Wagner of Grinstad & Wagner won Merit and People's Choice awards for the design of a home at Deception Pass. Scott Jeffries and Wagner were the project team, while Impero Construction was the builder.

Lowell Larsen of HKP Architects was given a Citation award for the campus center remodel at Skagit Valley College. The builder on the project was Ebenal General Inc., while the project designers were Larsen and Paul Whitehill. A citation award means there are elements of the project worthy of study.

Greg Robinson of Cascade Joinery was given a Citation award for a home on Blakely Island. The builder on the project was Woodsong Construction and the project team was Robinson and Tom Senner.
