A wide range of industries are represented by this year's list of finalists for Professional Woman of the Year, announced by the Whatcom Women in Business organization.
The 2008 finalists are owners or senior managers in Whatcom County-based businesses who demonstrate strong community service and leadership in their fields. This year's roster includes women whose work represents finance, fitness, gardens, construction, soap and recycling.
The finalists include Jodie Beatty, financial advisor at Waddell & Reed; Toni Clark, manager at Bakerview Nursery; Anne-Marie Faiola, owner of Brambleberry specialty soap company, Lynne Henifin, manager at Henifin Construction, Robin Robertson, co-owner of Bellingham Tennis Club and Fairhaven Fitness, and Gerry Ebalaroza-Tunnell, owner of Bellingham's new franchise 1-800-GOT-JUNK.
One person, to be chosen from the six finalists after interviews with representatives of the Whatcom Women in Business group, will be named Woman of the Year at the WWIB annual banquet and auction on Oct. 21. Proceeds from this annual event provide a number of college scholarships for women in higher education.
Whatcom Women in Business is composed of women business leaders in Whatcom County who meet for purposes of networking, encouragement, and fostering women's business entrepreneurship.
