A Bellingham businessman is offering a service to help small businesses increase their online presence with a local focus.

Edward Kim recently founded the Web site Local Aware. In a press release, Kim said Local Aware is designed to offer a professional solution to small businesses through a unique online promotional toolkit. Local Aware provides features such as a detailed, descriptive business profile; images and videos; the ability to create and manage coupons; an event calendar; a promotions page; a map; and a blog, all of which can be updated in an instant.

"I founded Local Aware on the principle of promoting local businesses to help, in turn, support the local economy," Kim said in the press release. "By offering an affordable web presence, our Web site allows independent businesses that were once the backbone of the economy to continue to compete with the chain franchise and big box counterparts."

Local Aware is open to businesses of all types - retail, service provider, small manufacturers, farmers, artists, anyone selling any product or service - as long as the business is independently owned and local.
