Whatcom Museum has hired two businesswomen to operate the Museum Store in its new location at the Lightcatcher Building on the corner of Grand Avenue and Flora Street.

Janet Ershig and Randal Parker will run the store, which will reopen to the public at noon Saturday, Nov. 14, as part of the Lightcatcher's grand opening celebration. Museum Store revenues will go to the Whatcom Museum Foundation to support its operations and programs.

"With Janet's retail and sales experience and Randal's art and design background, we think we have an absolutely wining combination for making the Museum Store a very unique and successful shopping destination in downtown Bellingham," said Executive Director Patricia Leach in a press release.

Ershig has spent the last five years in sales management and business development with Alpha Technologies and was the founder of the Fairhaven children's boutique Wild Blueberries in 2001. She sold the store in 2004.

Parker's background includes marketing and the arts, including managing the gallery and gift store for Allied Arts and working in advertising for Entertainment News Northwest.

Whatcom Museum is a nonprofit organization operated jointly by the city of Bellingham and the Whatcom Museum Foundation.
