Bellingham Development Company M:KOV Development recently hired Earth-First Lawn Care as the Community Maintenance Consultant for The Reserve at Cordata.

Earth First Lawn Care, which was awarded the 2009 Green Business of the Year by the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce & Industry, uses propane and electric equipment, which reduces toxic emissions by nearly 90 percent as well as utilizing safe and natural weed control methods. The company is owned by James and Andrea Rowe.

M:KOV Development plans to implement a variety of progressive land-use practices throughout the completion of the Reserve at Cordata as well as at South Springs, a proposed redesign of the old DR Horton project in the Cordata neighborhood, previously named Cordata Country Plat.

"At the Reserve we will pre-wire all new homes for solar and achieve the strict energy efficiency guidelines set by EPA Energy Star program. At South Springs we hope to implement low-impact design, new-urbanist design utilizing Bellingham's new Infill Toolkit," said Ted Mischaikov, owner of M:KOV in a press release.
