Five Whatcom County businesses honored in Best of Western Washington contest

Five Whatcom County companies and a local business woman were among the top finishers in the Best of Western Washington contest run by the KING-TV show “Evening Magazine.”

The results of the contest, in which people voted online for 175 categories, were announced last week. Mi Shoes of Bellingham received the most votes for Best Women’s Shoes, The Woods Coffee was named Best Coffee Shop and Boundary Bay finished second for Best Brewpub.

Evolution Audio of Bellingham was named Best Car Stereo Shop, Audio Innovations of Bellingham finished fourth in the Best Wedding DJ category and Anny Havland, owner of Neighborhood Mortgage finished second in the Woman of the Year category.

According to a press release from The Woods Coffee, it received more than 400 comments from voters on the King 5 Web site, which handled the voting.

Mi Shoes on Railroad Avenue has been in the news recently for receiving a $5,000 gift from a donor through Giving Anonymously. Boundary Bay finished second to Silver City Brewery in Silverdale.
