Retailer conference at Birch Bay Square on Oct. 19

A symposium for retailers about thriving in the current economy will be held later this month at Birch Bay Square.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Oct. 19 at the International Trade Room at Birch Bay Square.

The event is designed for retailers from throughout Whatcom, Skagit and Island counties who are seeking advice, techniques and expanded education on capturing a greater share of the cross-border retail dollar and who are anxious to hear from colleagues who are actually thriving and expanding in the midst of a recession.

Keynote speaker will be Wes Herman, president of The Woods Coffee. There will also be speakers from a variety of sectors, including banking, retail and the 2010 Vancouver Olympics Committee.

Topics will include Business Funding in a Tight Lending Market, Merchandising to Attract Canadian Consumers, Olympic Games Retailing Opportunities, Financial Shifts in a Recessionary Climate and Identifying Optimum Locations for Retail Success.
