A four-run second inning lifted the Bellingham Post 7 Senior Legion baseball team to a 9-5 victory over the Fraser Valley Chiefs on Thursday, July 2, at Sehome High School.
The victory improved Post 7 to 19-9-1.
"We are starting to play well together," Post 7 coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview. "It looks like we are hitting our stride at the right time."
After Fraser Valley took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Post 7 tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom half on an RBI single by Spencer Hannah and a run scored on an error.
Post 7 took the lead for good with four runs in the second inning. RBI singles by Pitsch and Hannah highlighted the four-run inning.
Kyle Olason (3-2) picked up the victory. He went six innings, had eight strikeouts and gave up four earned runs.
Post 7 plays at Fraser Valley on Friday, July 3.
