Anthony Pitsch hit his second grand slam in three days to help push the Bellingham Post 7 Senior Legion team to a 10-3 win over the Skagit Sox on Wednesday, July 1, at Sehome High School.

Pitsch's home run came in the sixth inning, pushing the score to 8-3 and giving Post 7 (18-9-1) a much needed cushion going into the game's final at-bat.

The young slugger also launched a grand slam on Monday, June 29, in Bellingham's 12-2 win over the Marysville Hawks.

Pitsch, who bats third in the Post 7 order, recently returned after spending a week in Arizona playing for a USA select team.

"He's been swinging it ever since," Post 7 coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview. "It's definitely good to have him back in the middle of our order and driving in runs."

Skagit scored the game's first three runs, but wouldn't touch home plate after the fourth.

Tyler Lingbloom struck out four batters while allowing just three hits in the complete-game win.

"He's been a bulldog," Hennigs said of Lingbloom, who threw 94 pitches.

Post 7 netted nine hits in all. Tenny Pitsch couldn't top his brother's grand slam, but he did manage four RBI on 2 for 3 hitting, which included a double and a triple. Evan Fenton was 3 for 4 and scored three runs.

The two teams will meet again in July for a three-game series, with the winner advancing to the super regional. Post 7 has home-field advantage in the series because they beat Skagit five of six times they met this year.

"It's definitely good to have that edge," Hennigs said. "But that's not going to help us win any games when it comes to that three-game series."
