The Bellingham Bells struggled to find consistent production at the plate Friday, June 19, managing four hits in a 7-0 setback to the Corvallis Knights in a West Coast League contest at Corvallis, Ore.
The loss dropped the Bells to 5-5.
Sam Gaviglio pitched six strong innings for Corvallis (6-3), striking out seven while giving up three hits. The Knights took command with a four-run fourth inning and tacked on three more runs in the sixth. Center fielder Pat Colwell was 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs for Corvallis, which also got two RBI from right fielder Doug Cherry.
Alex Besaw (0-1) pitched 5 1/3 for the Bells, giving up five runs on six hits. He struck out four. Sam Richter, Patrick Claussen, Rhett Fenton and Brady Locker each had hits for Bellingham, which faces Corvallis again today.
