The 26th annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in Mount Vernon begins Wednesday, April 1 and runs until April 30.

The fields are spread out over a 15-mile radius and events are scatterd around the entire county. Activities include art shows, cruises and wildlife tours, farms and nurseries, local foods and products, museums and wineries.

The Tulip Festival office moved to 311 W. Kiincaid St. in Mount Vernon.

SURF DOCUMENTARY TO BE AIRED AT PAC THEATER

Maine filmmaker Ben Keller will show his latest surf documentary "BlueGreen" at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at the Performing Arts Center theater on the Western Washington University campus.

The film includes 13 subjects who talk about about the ocean how it affects their lives and and the lives of others.

Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for the public at the door. Additionally the WWU Surfrider Chapter will auction off a brand new surfboard to raise funds for it's local campaigns.

TEAM IN TRAINING TEAMS WITH LOCAL EVENTS

Team in Training, the world's first and largest charity sports training program, announced its participation with the The Bellingham Bay Marathon and the Chuckanut Century.

TNT is now registering particpants to begin training for the fall marathons, half marathons and cycling events.

Participants on Bellingham-area teams receive a four to five month comprehensive training program with certified coaches.

Since TNT began in 1988, more than 380,000 participants have raised more than $900 million to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society advance its mission: cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma.

PUGET SOUND SEA KAYAK SYMPOSIUM TO BE HELD IN MAY

The Puget Sound Sea Kayak Symposium will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17, at Owen Beach in Tacoma's Point Defiance Park (5400 N. Pearl St.).

The event will feature water classes, boat demos and vendor booths, and classroom presentations.

A day pass is $30 if purchased before May 12 and a weekend pass is $55 if purchased before May 12.
