Meridian held McLoughlin High School, of Milton-Freewater, Ore., to just one field goal to secure a 42-3 victory on Saturday, Oct. 4, in Ellensburg.
Quarterback Zach Flesk scored two rushing touchdowns as the Trojans (2-0 conference, 3-2 overall) found the end zone on their first four possessions. Flesk also passed for 290 yards, connecting with Ryder Chance for 110 yards and Mitchell Tripp for 106 yards.
The McLoughlin offense struggled, failing to complete a single pass, without its starting quarterback, who did not play, Meridian assistant coach Patrick Ames said.
Every player on the Meridian roster made it into the game as the Trojans pulled away after falling behind 0-3 in the first quarter.
The teams met in Ellensburg for the nonconference matchup.
"You hope your kids are going to show up (for a road game) and get started fast," Ames said in a phone interview.
