Kylee DeCook evened the score in the second half, but the Mount Baker girls' soccer team needed a little bit more as Mount Vernon won 2-1 in a shootout.

Ella Salkeld and Michael Urbano were both credited with the assist on DeCook's goal in the 58th minute.

"It was a pretty exciting game," Mount Baker coach Kelly Grayum said in a phone interview. "Mount Vernon had a lot of the possession of the ball, but our girls played an exceptionally smart game and got our goal when we needed it."

Leah Ford finished with 13 saves in goal for the Mountaineers.
