PREP GIRLS' SWIMMING: Ferndale relays advance

The Ferndale girls' swim team had teams advance in all three relay events during the Class 3A Northwest District Meet on Friday, Nov. 6, at Fidalgo Pool in Anacortes.

The team of Erin Parkinson, Inga Holmdahl, Greta Gustafson and Maggie McLaurin had the top time in the 400 freestyle relay in 4 minutes, 2.57 seconds; Holmdahl, Mandy Wittmier, Parkinson and McLaurin were third in the 200 medley relay in 2:02.44; and Leah McLaughlin, Alyssa Shawler, Gustafson and Wittmier were sixth in the 200 freestyle relay in 2:01.34.

In the 200 freestyle, McLaurin was fourth (2:07.79), Holmdahl was seventh (2:13.74) and Gustafson was eighth (2:16.22).

In the 200 individual medley, Parkinson was third (2:23.09) and Wittmier was 11th (2:43.61); Holmdahl finished second in the 100 freestyle in 59.05 and Shawler was 10th in 1:04.02; McLaurin finished fifth in the 500 freestyle in 5:49.50 and Gustafson was sixth in 6:05.82; and Parkinson took second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.67 and Wittmier was fifth in 1:16.76.

McLaughlin was 10th in the 100 butterfly in 1:17.43 and Shawler was seventh in the 100 backstroke in 1:16.53.

Action continues at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Fidalgo Pool.
