PREP GIRLS' CROSS COUNTRY: Meridian, Nooksack Valley sends runners to Class 1A State Championships

Meridian had three cross country runners advance to the Class 1A State Championships while Nooksack Valley had two after competing at the Class 1A Tri-District Meet on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Lakewood.

The Trojans and Pioneers also advanced as a team to the state meet.

Bailey DeBruin of Nooksack Valley had the top local finish with a third-place time of 20 minutes and 2 seconds. Maddie Meyers of Northwest finished first in 19:18.0.

Also advancing to state for the Pioneers was Carina Esquivel in 29th (22:21.1).

Meridian runners who will head to Pasco are Jayna Edmonds who finished 11th in 20:56.5, Jill Crandall (16th, 21:10.2) and Hannah Hoyt (22nd, 21:35.0). Also running for the Trojans were Jessica Hofbauer (57th), Marina Mendoza (68th) and Lauren Kilday (69th).

Also running for Nooksack Valley were Jordan Harvey (35th), Natalie Vandiest (40th), Brittany Van Dyken (5 st), Lynzee Davis (54th) and Jasmine Duque (76th).

In the team race, Nooksack Valley finished fifth while Meridian took sixth (top six teams advance to state). King's took first place.
