Forward Brendan Quilici doubled his season goal total as he scored twice, one being the game winner, as Western Washington University defeated Montana State University Billings, 3-2, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's soccer game Saturday, Oct. 31, in Billings, Mont.

It was the second straight win for Western, now 7-11-0 overall and 4-3-0 in GNAC action, following a 4-0 victory at Seattle Pacific on Thursday.

After a scoreless first half, Sam Charles put the Yellowjackets in front with his league-leading 21st goal of the season and the 66th of his four-year career.

Less than four minutes later, Western forward Gibson Bardsley tied the contest at 1-1 with his fifth goal, Oscar Jimenez being credited with his team-leading fifth assist.

Midway through the second half, Quilici scored twice within a span of eight minutes. His first goal in the 60th minute was from 15 yards that came off a deflected pass from Bardsley. Quilici's second goal was a 12-yarder off a through ball from Tyler Bjork in the 68th minute.

MSUB finished the scoring in the 84th minute, Tyler Moriarty finding the net from 40 yards out.

"It was really windy and we didn't adjust well in the first half when it was going with us," Western coach Travis Connell said, "but in the second, it forced us to play on the ground and we did a good job of that."

"We showed a lot of character, giving up a goal and then scoring three straight. ... I'm very proud of these guys."

Western goalkeeper Cameron Copps-Tilley made nine saves. The Vikings were outshot, 20-10.
