The Whatcom Community College volleyball team dropped a five-set match against Highline Community College on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The Orcas took the first set with ease against the visiting Highline team but played sluggish immediately after, dropping the second and third sets, Whatcom coach Jeff McDonald said in a phone interview. Highline eventually claimed the fifth set after Whatcom evened the score in the fourth, in the come-from-behind victory.

"If we're going to lose, I guess it's the best way to end in five games," McDonald said.

Leading the Orcas were Sarah Cicchitti, who recorded 17 kills with a .469 hitting percentage, and Kelsey Meendernick, who contributed seven kills for a .429 hitting percentage.
