Interstate 5 in Bellingham plagued by minor crashes

UPDATED 11 A.M.: BELLINGHAM - A series of crashes on Interstate 5 starting shortly before 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, snarled traffic throughout the morning.

Most of the crashes were reported between the Sunsent and Bakerview exits. A hailstorm near Meridian Street about 10 a.m. caused a few, but none resulted in serious injury.

The hail coated the freeway for more than half an hour before mostly melting off.

The freeway remains slick in sections because of heavy rain at times and cold temperatures. Drivers are advised to use caution and slow down, especially if hail is on the road.
