Hurricane Summary POSTED: January 28, 2012 11:09 a.m. 2011 Hurricane Season Comes to a Close The hurricane season across the Eastern Pacific Basin has come to a close for 2011. This season had 11 named storms, 10 of which went on to become hurricanes and six of which strengthened to major hurricanes (Category 3 or greater). Hurricane Dora was the strongest storm of the season across the Eastern Pacific with a minimum pressure of 929 millibars and maximum sustained winds of 155 mph.
