This year, July 4th is on a Friday, so revelers can celebrate their independence with a three-day weekend.
Start the Independence Day early with a hearty breakfast, sprinkle in some music and parades, and then stay up late to watch all the fireworks.
Set up a spot at Boulevard or Zuanich Point parks and wait for the sparks to fly over Bellingham Bay for the Haggen Family 4th of July Celebration. The fireworks show will begin at dusk, around 10 p.m.
The day starts at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at the Blaine Community Center and ends with fireworks at Blaine Marine Park. Look online at www.blainechamber.com to get a full schedule of the day’s events.
As part of Blaine’s two-day 4th of July celebration, the city will offer a street fair, a sidewalk sale and free live music all day on Saturday. For more information, go online at www.blainechamber.com.
North County Christ the King Church is hosting a Red, Waffle and Blue fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon Friday at McPhail Berry Farm, 8338 Bob Hall Road in Lynden. A $5 donation is suggested, and breakfast includes waffles, strawberries, sausage, coffee and juice.
Relax after a late night of fireworks gazing with a stroll through Fairhaven’s Celebrate your Independence Sidewalk Sale. The sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on the Village Green.
