Western Washington University's Joseph Garcia has been named to the editorial board of The Business Journal of Hispanic Research.
Garcia is the associate dean of the College of Business and Economics and director of the new Karen W. Morse Institute for Leadership.
The Business Journal of Hispanic Research focuses on empirical research with strong implications for management and organizations, and is targeted at the Hispanic business community.
"I feel privileged to serve in a role that helps shape our collective understanding of a growing and increasingly important community in America," said Garcia.

MEYERS NAMED AS 'SUPERLAWYER'
Barry M. Meyers, a Bellingham Certified Elder Law Attorney, has been named a 2009 SuperLawyer by Washington Law and Politics magazine.
Meyers was also named a SuperLawyer in 2007 and 2008. In order to be named a SuperLawyer, the magazine mails more than 17,000 ballots to active lawyers in the state, examines the background and experience of candidates, evaluates indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, and then reviews and evaluates candidates by a blue ribbon panel from their practice area. Only 5 percent of the lawyers in Washington are recognized as SuperLawyers.
Meyers has practiced law for 25 years. His elder law practice includes life care planning, long-term care planning, estate planning, trusts, trust administration, planning for incapacity/disability, guardianships, probate, and the protection of vulnerable adults from financial and physical abuse.
JOHNSON HONORED BY WCAR
The Whatcom County Association of Realtors recently honored Stephanie Johnson of Keller Williams Western Realty and Wayne Wright of Pacific Northwest Homes Magazine.
Johnson was named WCAR's Realtor of the Second Quarter. Based at the Keller Williams office in Bellingham, Johnson has been a Realtor since 2000 and earned her broker's license in 2005. She also has served as a state director for WCAR the last three years.
The WCAR selected Wright as its Affiliate of the First Quarter. Wright joined Pacific Northwest Homes Magazine in 2006, working with his parents before becoming its owner in December. Wright spearheaded development of the magazine's Web site that now attracts 250,000 visitors monthly. Wright also was honored for his support of WCAR and many community organizations.

SEAL APPOINTED AS REVERSE MORTGAGE SPECIALIST
Ken Seal recently was appointed the reverse mortgage specialist for Whatcom County with Bank of America Home Loans.
Seal has been a reverse mortgage specialist the past six years and has more than 20 years of experience in the financial-services industry.
Seal also gives informational presentations to groups about reverse mortgages, including new products that offer fixed interest rates and others that enable people to use them for home purchases when downsizing.
