BIRCH BAY - With construction of the grocery store nearly complete, the owners of Birch Bay Square can now focus on leasing the newly remodeled spaces.
While the retail center has been able to sign a couple of new tenants recently, the owners are hoping they will be able to generate more interest in the multimillion dollar remodel now that the construction fences are gone, said Levi Ware, one of the partners of Birch Bay Square.
"Everyone has been waiting for the grocery store to open before making some decisions," Ware said.
In today's economic climate, they'll be looking first at local and regional businesses, Ware said, focusing on women's clothing or electronic stores. The plan is to fill up the current center before moving forward with its next phase, which includes expanding to the north.
Recently Nail Masters opened in the center, while Boulevard Hair Studio has signed a lease.
"We'll continue to try and get tenants that are needed here," Ware said. "We want people who live in this area to feel this is a part of their community."
