Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted his mother and threatened to kill his brothers and himself, at a house on the 5900 block of Roberts Road early Wednesday morning, Oct. 15.

At about 12:40 a.m. deputies were called to the house south of Everson, where a man had taken some pills and allegedly threatened to commit suicide, said Sgt. Larry Flynn of the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office. The man also allegedly had a handgun, and deputies received reports that shots had been fired inside the house.

Flint said the man is suspected of assaulting his mother and threatening to kill his brothers.

Several of the man's family members escaped the house, but the man’s mother and a toddler remained inside.

When deputies entered the house they found the mother and toddler locked in a back bedroom. The suspect ran from the house before deputies arrived.

Deputies confiscated the handgun, but were still looking for the suspect Wednesday.
