The highly regarded Tigers, who finished second in the Class 2A state playoffs in 2007, led throughout the game but had to hold off the Cubs to earn the 17-14 Northwest Conference non-classification victory at Sedro-Woolley.
Stetson Shearer opened the scoring with a 37-yard run in the first quarter, and Cole Sager followed with a one-yard touchdown run. Andrew Furney's 26-yard field goal in the second quarter proved to be the difference.
Sedro-Woolley's Derek Garcia scored on runs of four and one yard in the second half, and finished with 103 yards. Shearer rushed for 97 yards on 13 carries for Burlington-Edison, and Jeff Adams added 41 on 11 carries.
