Human rights group gets state award

BELLINGHAM - Whatcom Human Rights Task Force was recently honored for its work in diversity education.

The task force received a 2008 Human and Civil Rights Award in Cultural Awareness from the Washington Education Association Tuesday, Aug. 26.

The task force is dedicated to ensuring that every individual is treated with respect and dignity and able to live without fear of violence, intimidation or discrimination.

Carl Taylor, president of the Washington Education Association, will present the award to task force staff at their new office, 13 Prospect St., Suite 202.
