A truck hauling a propane tank in the 4400 block of Rural Avenue near Marietta rolled onto its side but did not leak gas.
The driver was not injured in the Tuesday, Aug. 26, crash, said Dean Whitney, chief of Whatcom County Fire District 8.
The driver, whom Whitney did not identify, was driving south at 9 a.m. when the truck went off the road and rolled. Neither the propane tank nor the fuel tank leaked, and the truck sustained little damage, Whitney said.
The company that owns the truck, Ferndale-based Propane Gas Ind, sent a truck with an empty tank to the scene to transfer the propane, Whitney said.
The Washington State Department of Ecology was dispatched to watch the propane transfer and ensure nothing leaked.
