A local agriculture agency will hold a public meeting to demonstrate a new Web-based project to help farmers expand their market and network with other food-system participants.

The meeting will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25 at Bellewood Acres, 231 Ten Mile Road.

The Northwest Agriculture Business Center has received a federal grant to assess and strengthen the regional food system and create an online market access platform called the Puget Sound Food Network.

"The Food Network will enable real-time communication between consumers, farmers, and other participants in the regional food system, and allow online food-related transactions," said David Bauermeister, the center's executive director.

The online market access project received $400,000 from the 2007-08 U.S. Department of Commerce appropriation. For more information, visit www.agbizcenter.org.
