Ferndale-based Samson Rope Technologies Inc. has been known for its high-performance ropes, and recently one of its products played a role in setting a world record.

Josephine Hedger of Sway Hampshire, England, set a world record in July at the 32nd International Tree Climbing Championship in St. Louis. Hedger climbed 10 meters up a tree in 15.88 seconds using Samson Velocity rope, according to a press release from Samson.

The 24-year-old Hedger is a self-employed tree surgeon who has been climbing for five years; this was her first international competition.

Samson has been making high-performance ropes fro more than 100 years. For more information about the company, visit www.samsonrope.com.
