BELLINGHAM - Broadway star and actress Bernadette Peters will headline Mount Baker Theatre's upcoming season, which starts Saturday, Dec. 6.
Peters will sing some of Broadway's most-loved tunes with a full orchestra behind her on the theater's Main Stage.
Her appearance at the gala event also will serve as a reopening of the stage, which is undergoing renovations.
The work includes projects to improve lighting, sound quality and climate control in the 82-year-old building, but will delay the season's opening, according to executive director Brad Burdick.
"The season is a little bit shorter," he said, noting it usually starts in September.
But there's still plenty in the lineup including Broadway shows "Annie," "Movin' Out," and "The Pajama Game."
"American Idol" favorites Ruben Studdard and Frenchie Davis also will perform in the musical revue "Ain't Misbehavin'." In all, the Main Stage will have 17 acts.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 8, for Mount Baker Theatre members and on Sept. 3 for the public.
