Four Slam players land on IBL all-star team

The International Basketball League champion Bellingham Slam placed four players on the league postseason all-star team released Thursday, Aug. 8.

Making the team from Bellingham were guards Ryan Diggs and Jacob Stevenson and forward Tyler Amaya and Lukas Henne. Slam guard Paul Hafford received honorable mention recognition.

Elkhart, the team Bellingham beat in the championship game, and Gary also each placed four players on the team, while a total of 39 players from 17 teams made the all-star team.

Diggs averaged 25.6 points per game for the Slam, which was sixth best in the league. He also recorded 6.3 assists and 5.8 rebounds in 22 games. Stevenson played in 21 games, averaging 18.4 points, 3.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds.

Amaya averaged 21.8 points and 9.2 rebounds in 15 games, while Henne scored 17.4 points and recorded 8.0 rebounds in 22 games for Bellingham.

Hafford, a 2007 IBL All-Star, sparked Bellingham's comeback in the championship game with 30 points and 10 rebounds.
