LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Henderson the best state Senate choice

Nostalgia does not trump state law.

Steve Van Luven's comment that "it was a nostalgic thing for me" when questioned about his Bellevue voting address being in conflict with his actual residence on Samish Island is very clearly a deliberate attempt to circumvent both the letter and the intent of state law. And to deflect criticism by stating that two of his opponents have campaign headquarter addresses in Skagit County has nothing to do with the issue at hand, nor is it against state law to do so.

What we do not need in the election of our 40th District Senator is a carpetbagger Republican from Bellevue to represent us. What we do not need is a flash-in-the-pan environmentalist from San Juan Island who appears, in my opinion, to be looking beyond the 40th District at a higher office.

What we do need is Ken Henderson to represent us.

Ken Henderson has the business background, a history of environmental stewardship, and the integrity and compassion to take issues head on. He has been endorsed by many leaders in the community, including state Rep. Dave Quall and our own senator, Harriet Spanel. Join me in voting for Ken Henderson for 40th District Senate.
