LEGION: Post 7 sweeps pair of one-run games

Bellingham King Nissan Post 7 won a pair of one-run games against Lakeside Recovery in Senior American Legion baseball action on Saturday, July 19 at Joe Martin Field.
King Nissan scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the first game 8-7. The second-game victory was 6-5.
In Game 1, Lakeside of Issaquah/Bellevue scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 7-3 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Zack Halverson had a two-out RBI single to tie the game, and Keith Mader drew a bases-loaded walk for the game-winning run.
Chad Van Berkum, Evan Fenton and Jared Vera led Post 7 in the second game with two hits each. Fenton added three RBI and a run.
The postseason begins for Bellingham (21-12-1) on Monday, July 21 with a bestof- 3 district series against the Skagit Sox. Monday’s doubleheader begins at 10 a.m. at Skagit Valley College. If the teams split the first two games a loser-out game will be played on Tuesday. The winner of the district series advances to the state regional in Yakima.
