Firefighters will set fire to two empty houses as part of training exercises today.
The owners donated homes at 1100 Adelia Ave. in Blaine and at 2218 Nulle Road near the southern county line, after the buildings were slated to be demolished.
North Whatcom Fire and Rescue will burn the Blaine home and Whatcom County Fire Districts 2, 6, 9 and 10 will burn the Nulle Road home.
Firefighters in both locations will begin training at about 9 or 10 a.m. They will set and put out fires through much of the day.
The public is asked to stay at a safe distance.
