The first flight of Copper River salmon to land at Sea- Tac Airport was a little light, carrying only 7,500 pounds of fish, said Alaska Airlines spokeswoman, Pam Miller.
About 36,000 pounds of the salmon, known for its flavor, was expected, but fishing weather was bad in Alaska.
Haggen stores will only get Copper River salmon in four of its stores, said spokeswoman Becky Skaggs.
“We expected that all of our stores would get fish,” Skaggs said.
Haggen’s Barkley location will get about 50 pounds of the salmon, Skaggs said, and prices will range from $29.99 a pound to $39.99 a pound.
The next fishing expedition is scheduled for Monday, Skaggs said.
