Bellingham home sales down about 18 percent

The latest numbers for overall home sales continue to show a significant slowdown compared to the previous year.
The number of new and existing homes sold through the first four months of the year was 399 in Bellingham, down from 489 (or 18.4 percent) compared to the same period last year, according to a report from First American Title of Bellingham.
The title company tracks sales of all homes, including for-sale-by-owner transactions.
A look at the other numbers:
- Bellingham condominiums sold, through April: 148. Same period, 2007: 166. Change: Down 10.8 percent.
- Homes sold in Ferndale, Lynden and Blaine, through April: 283. Same period, 2007: 410. Change: Down 31 percent.
- Condos sold in Ferndale, Lynden and Blaine, through April: 60. Same period, 2007: 65. Change: Down 7 percent.
