The district tournament softball schedule, which already had some minor changes made by Tuesday’s rains, had to make some even bigger adjustments to all three tournaments on Wednesday.
The Class 3A Northwest District tournament in Sedro-Woolley and the north bracket of the Class 1A Tri-District Tournament in Lynden were both postponed by the wet weather on Wednesday.
The Class 2A Northwest District tournament had to make the biggest changes, though.
The tournament, which was originally scheduled to start Wednesday at Janicki Fields in Sedro-Woolley, was bumped to today by Tuesday’s rainout of the 3A tournament, which is being held on the same fields. With Wednesday’s rainout, the 3A tournament was again delayed a day and the 2A tournament was forced to move its first two rounds to Bender Fields in Lynden.
The four 2A first-round games will now begin at 2 p.m. today in Lynden. Consolation first-round games will follow at approximately 4 p.m., and the championship semifinals should be played at about 6 p.m.
The time changes were needed because the 1A tournament is also being played at Bender and needed two of the four fields for its first two rounds today.
First-round 3A games will now start at 4 p.m. today at Janicki Fields. The championship semifinals and consolation first round will follow at approximately 6 p.m. A pair of consolation games will still be played on Friday.
The north bracket of the 1A tournament will start at 4 p.m. with a pair of first-round games at Bender Fields. A consolation championship game and firstround consolation game will follow at approximately 6 p.m.
The good news is drier, warmer weather is predicted for the region beginning today, and both the 3A and 2A tournaments should be able to be played Saturday in Sedro-Woolley as originally scheduled, and the 1A tournament moves to Tacoma that day.
