BELLINGHAM — For a third time, police searched the home of an Alger couple who were the last people to see a slain local track coach.
Skagit County Sheriff’s Office detectives continue to investigate the death of 38-year-old Jeremy Scully, who was found shot to death on Blanchard Mountain April 24. Scully taught pole vaulting for Ferndale High School, Western Washington University and Bellingham Parks and Recreation.
On Wednesday, detectives served a third search warrant at the home of Kenneth and Venessa McBride in Alger, including using metal detectors in the back yard. KOMO-4 News reports that detectives also served a search warrant for DNA from Kenneth McBride.
Scully was last seen en route to help Kenneth McBride make repairs to the McBride home. Court records indicate Venessa McBride admitted to having an affair with Scully.
Will Reichert, chief criminal deputy for the Skagit Sheriff’s Office, declined to comment on what police found or were looking for on the property.
“As we learn more information we follow those leads,” Reichert said. “If that means we have to go back and look for more, that’s what we do.”
No arrests have been made in the case.
