Each week The Bellingham Herald takes a look at a business in Whatcom County. This week: Room2Think.
What’s new: Much about this business has changed. Coowners Wendy Keneipp and Kristi Birkeland acquired the business concept from Logos Bible Software, which originally opened the meeting space in March 2006 in some extra office space on Commercial Street. Logos closed the space, however, last year to expand its company into that space. Keneipp and Birkeland took the idea and opened their business earlier this month in a 2,800-square-foot office space on East Chestnut Street. They will have an open house from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday and a grand opening from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday.
What it does: Room2Think is a meeting place for a variety of groups, including homebased businesses looking to meet clients in a professional setting and larger companies that want to hold strategy sessions or board meetings. Birkeland said Room2Think tries to appeal to a wide variety of companies. Along with a full-service kitchen, the company provides equipment including projection screens, video cameras, flat-screen television, computers with Internet access, magnetic walls and graffiti glass.
The prices are a flat rate for half and full days.
Marketplace: Mostly local, but they are marketing for businesses between Vancouver, B.C., and Seattle.
Employees: The owners are the only employees.
Claim to fame: The room is in a gold-certified LEED building and so far business has been good.
“We’re thrilled, the response has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Keneipp.
