The Meridian volleyball team won its winner-to-state match on Saturday, Nov. 7, against Seattle Christian 25-17, 25-22, 13-25, 26-24 in the Class 1A Tri-District Tournament.

The Trojans were led by Bree Park's 22 kills and 31 digs. Aimee Hofbauer added 25 digs and Maddy Oltman had 31 assists.

"The girls came out hard and really wanted it. We let them back in the third game, but kept pushing ourselves to get to state," Meridian coach Breanne Brandt said in a phone interview.

Lynden Christian won its first game but dropped the last three, losing to Cedar Park Christian, 25-11, 23-25, 14-25, 24-26. The Lyncs suffered only their second loss of the season but will still receive the No. 1 seed in the state tournament next week.

Lynden Christian was led by Jasmine Hommes' nine kills and Andrea Vicic's 11 kills. Kayleigh Ryans and Kendra Groves each had five kills and Groves also added 20 digs.

"We're still excited we're the number one seed - these games were for fun," Lynden Christian coach Kim Grycel said in a phone interview. "We're hoping this loss will be our wake-up call to get us ready for state next week."
