Local indie rock band Patient Patient is heading into the studio to record some new songs in the next few weeks. This round of recording will be the first with the band in its current three-member state. The band’s two previous full-length releases — “Professionals and Convicts,” out in 2006, and “The Less That We Are,” released early this year — were recorded when the band had four members. The band’s music has adapted and progressed as a result of the change, band member Kevin Dorn said.

“We’ve been touring a lot the past year and playing local shows but haven’t put anything to tape yet,” Dorn said. “We’re really excited about it. Our sound has changed a lot over the past year or so, and we really want to get the new material to people.”

Patient Patient is Neal Burton on vocals and guitar, Dorn on bass and glockenspiel and Rory Martin on drums and percussion. Burton’s distinct vocals set the mood for the music, full of emotion and intensity. Patient Patient delivers an exhilarating combination of up-tempo rock guitar lines and calmingly depressing, well-crafted melodies.

The guys are all from the Seattle-area and still live there, except for Dorn who lives in Bellingham. Dorn and Burton were on a soccer team together as kids and ended up at the same high school. They have been playing together since 1999. Martin joined the mix a year and a half ago.

The band members are currently listening to a lot of The Walkmen, Arcade Fire, Pavement, Wilco and The Black Keys, to name a few.

Patient Patient members just got home from playing a few shows in Los Angeles and are trying to figure out where to schedule shows this summer.

When asked about any other plans for the band, Dorn said, “Plenty, but we try to take things a few months at a time. Life seems to change pretty quickly sometimes.”
