The band is Jimmy Brite on guitar and vocals, Jeff Panko on mandolin and vocals, Chuck DeVange on banjo and vocals, Tom Davis on washtub bass and vocals and Tim Coraline on guitar. All the guys in the band except DeVange live out in Glacier.
During the month of February, Bent Grass is the featured Monday night band at the Green Frog Café Acoustic Tavern, 902 N. State St. The band plays every Monday in February at the Acoustic Tavern, with music starting around 9 p.m. with no cover. The show is restricted to those 21 and older.
The members of the band have varied influences, creating a blend of sound with the band’s music. Panko and Brite do most of the songwriting, with Davis chipping in lately, but the band plays a majority of traditional or cover songs, DeVange said.
The guys in the band all have day jobs and families to support, but Bent Grass is a great project to have fun with, DeVange said.
“When you have a family, you can’t get carried away with it,” DeVange said. “It’d be easy to do every night. I just have fun playing, and it’s great to see people shaking their heads and enjoying the music.” And expect a little hootin’ and hollerin’ in true bluegrass spirit.
